Hard Disk Drive (2.5") speed: SATA vs. USB 2.0 vs. USB 3.0

So, a few months ago I've been looking for comparison speed of HDD speed when it's plugged into SATA, to USB 2.0 and to USB 3.0 of identical or same disk, and surprisingly I did not find any information that satisfy myself. So, after I bought a HDD case/dock that come with USB 3.0 device, I post this benchmark result so, maybe someone looking for this too. For the rig setup, I use:

Berikut perangkat yang saya gunakan:
- Biostar H81MLV3 (2x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0, 2x SATA II, 2x SATA III),
- Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD3200BEVT (320GB, 8MB, SATA II, 5400 RPM),
- Orico USB 3.0 Hard disk case.
- Windows 10 1511 64-bit

Test 1:

Dicolok langsung ke port SATA II. (Plugged straight into SATA II port)
HDD -> SATA

Test 2:

Dicolok via HDD case ke port USB 3.0. (Plugged to USB 3.0 port with HDD case)
HDD -> Case/Dock -> USB 3.0

Test 3:

Dicolok via HDD case ke port USB 2.0. (Plugged to USB 2.0 port with HDD case)
HDD -> Case/Dock -> USB 2.0

As you can see, USB 3.0 can almost achieve same performance with SATA II, with both read & write sequential speed around 90 MB/s but USB 2.0 only a third of it, around 30 MB/s. But USB 3.0 have somewhat lower random 4K read/write test.

Okay, hope you could find this useful.
